By now, you’ve all seen the news that Tumblr’s closing down NSFW blogs (read: a good 80% of its site) as of December 17. The House of Googie is not an adult site (although there’s a bit of cheesecake in the archives), so Googiemas ’58 will most likely go ahead as planned. I’ve invested far too much time and effort into the blog to bail out now, and besides, I can’t let all my loyal Googiephiles down. However, if the site is suddenly closed down, don’t fret, don’t panic, and don’t pester President Eisenhower to nuke the Soviets in retaliation. There are alternatives! Write these down on the wall next to your kitchen telephone in case you need them.
I’ve set up the Ello and Pinterest accounts this morning, so don’t panic if you don’t see anything. Facebook has next to nothing (it’s got Ike in sunglasses, though), and the Twitter link is my personal one (some vintage stuff, some political stuff, and the rest is shitposting) - I might make a secondary House of Googie account if you guys would like. As a final note, be sure to follow KoHoSo on Twitter and at his site, as he’s my designated main backup - he also has a swell collection of retro stuff, so you might like it anyway.
But to reiterate, the House of Googie isn’t going anywhere (not if I can help it, anyway). For my followers who are leaving the site, thank you very much for your support for however long you’ve been a loyal Googiephile - it really does mean a lot. For those of you determined to get through Tumblr’s latest bout of shooting itself in the foot, then I thank you for your continued support. Let’s make this Googiemas a swell one, shall we?

In light of the Tumblr announcement regarding adult content, I will be seriously considering moving this blog to a new platform. This is not strictly about the ban and there are many factors involved in this decision process. I will NOT be deleting this blog, whatever I decide.
I will update you all in the coming weeks with my final decision. Thank you all for your continued support.

So what if you reblog things that are “flagged”. Because 3 of the posts in my queue are flagged (One’s a chupacabra, one’s shadow people, one’s aliens…).
We started this blog back in October of 2012 and have really enjoyed running it for the past 6 years. In the past we have talked about taking this blog to various other platforms and mediums (Youtube, twitter, podcasts etc), but have been unable to due to busy lives.
Recently, I’ve begun to adjust to my busy schedule and have found some time to dedicate to things I enjoy such as running this blog. Because of this we will be launching this blog on a few other platforms (twitter, insta, youtube, podcasts). We will of course still run this tumblr page and nothing will change here, but I wanted to let you all know. As usual, suggestions and advice are always welcome.
